Potter Wasp Mud Nest On A Rock

A Potter Wasp mud nest on a rock I came across in the Ouachita National Forest here in Arkansas.

I was hiking in the Ouachita National Forest here in Arkansas and when I was taking a break I saw a mud nest on a rock. I had no idea what made it. I did some research online, and I am thinking that this was made by a Potter Wasp.

Wikipedia states that the name "potter wasp" derives from the shape of the mud nests. It is believed that Native Americans based their pottery designs upon the form of local potter wasp nests.

Potter wasps are also known as Mason Wasps.
