Steve Creek Standing Next To Uprooted Trees.

A famous old saying about March winds is, "If March comes in like a Lion, it'll go out like a Lamb. If it comes in like a Lamb, it'll go out like a Lion." It came in like a Lion here in Arkansas.

I took the below photo on March 10th in the Ouachita National Forest here in Arkansas. The local news stated that the wind got up to 60 mph (96.56 km/h) in this area. It actually felt like I was in a tornado. Lots of trees uprooted. We have had so much rain this winter and with the high winds it didn't take much to uproot some of them.

You will notice in the photo that this root ball is from two trees. I believe both are Oaks. You will also notice that a small stream was flowing under both trees before they were uprooted.

How I Got The Shot

I was using my FUJIFILM X-T3 Mirrorless Digital Camera with an 18-55 mm Lens. I was shooting in aperture priority mode (AV) with a shutter speed of 0.2 of a second at f11 and the ISO at 160. White Balance was set on auto. I was using single point, single shot auto-focus with multi metering. I had the camera on a tripod.
