Ouachita National Forest Small Waterfall

With all the rain we have been having here in Arkansas I have been seeing lots of these small waterfalls on my hikes. I came across this one in the Ouachita National Forest. Arkansas has some great waterfalls that get a lot of attention. I like these little remote ones that form after heavy rain.

Daffodil Is A Sign Of Winter's End

The Daffodils bloomed for a short time here around my place near the Ouachita National Forest. The rain we have had the past couple of weeks has knocked the flowers down. These flowers indicate to me that winter is almost over and it won't be long until I start seeing newborn wildlife.

Strange Looking Fungi

I posted this to a Fungi, Mushroom group on Flickr and someone was able to help with the ID. These are Calostoma Lutescens. I went to a Mushroom site (Mushroomexpert.com) and read that they are fairly common in the southern Appalachians, but has been reported from Arkansas to Massachusetts.

Large Gall On An Oak

This is a large Gall on an oak tree that I came across while hiking the Ouachita National Forest here in Arkansas. I see a lot of these on my hikes but most of them are smaller. I stood next to this one to show the size.
