Bald Eagle At Engineer Lake
I took this Bald Eagle photo back in January 2009. I was at Engineer Lake at Fort Chaffee. I have been coming to this lake for the past several years and this was the first time I saw Bald Eagles. I saw and photographed four on this day. They were diving for shad.
This was also the day I decided that I needed a longer lens because I wasn't getting the photos I wanted. Later I did buy a Canon 500 mm f/4L IS USM lens.
How I Got The Shot - Bald Eagle
I was using a Canon EOS 40D and a Canon EF 400 mm f5.6 lens. I was shooting in aperture priority mode (AV) with a shutter speed of 1/1600 of a second at f5.6 and the ISO at 400. White Balance was set on auto. I was using single point, continuous auto focus with evaluative metering.
